Humberto C. "Hubie" Santos, 54, of Cumberland, RI passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 20, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in São Miguel, Açores, Humberto grew up in Vila Franca do Campo before getting married and moving to Bermuda to work for a short while. There, he enjoyed the start to building a beautiful life with his wife and creating many memories with brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews before ultimately moving to Cumberland, where he started his own family. He began his career as a General Laborer for D&R Paving where he worked on a team with his brothers, nephews and family.
Humberto was a hardworking family man who would endure anything and sacrifice every day to give his family a good life. He was selfless, patient, humble and wise, it seemed he always had the perseverance and composure to tackle whatever came his way. He loved listening to Bob Marley and Reggae, dancing, watching his Benfica play, and rooting hard for his Patriots. His smile was infectious, and he always lit up the room and brought so much joy with his presence. He gave the best nicknames and loved joking around. He will be deeply missed by all - friends and family had a natural affinity towards him and his kindness. More than anything, Humberto wanted peace and love for his family.
Humberto was the son of Virginia Correia and the late Rogerio Santos. He is survived by his wife and mother of his children, Natercia Santos. He was a loving and devoted father to his three children, Derek Santos and wife Maribel Rivera, Megan Santos, and Nicholas Santos. He was a newly proud grandfather of 8-week old grandson, Kaiden Santos. Humberto was one of nine siblings and the youngest of his brothers. He leaves behind Carlos, Manuel, João, José, Maria Isabel Almeida, Graça, Ana Medeiros, and the late Teresa, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Monday, October 26th from 9:00 - 11:00am at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm in Our Lady Of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations instead be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Hasbro Children's Hospital, or an organization that specializes in cancer research and finding a cure.
